A tour of the Choppity dashboard

After you sign in to Choppity, the Long-to-Shorts generator project page is your home base.

On desktop, the screen has three main areas:

1. Main sidebar (left) — Navigate between tools and settings

2. Secondary panel (middle) — Upload a video or start a task (shown on some tools, e.g. Long to shorts generator)

3. Main workspace (right) — View your project folders and results

On mobile, the sidebar becomes a bottom navigation bar, and the upload panel stacks above your projects.

Sidebar header

At the top of the left sidebar:

• Choppity logo — Returns you to your home hub

• Usage / allowance — Shows remaining analysis, rendering, and storage on your plan

• What’s new — Recent product updates

• Collapse button (<<) — Shrinks the sidebar to icons only for more workspace room

The tool you’re currently using is highlighted. When the sidebar is expanded, a chevron (>) appears next to the active item.

Video tools

These are your main creation workflows.

Long to shorts generator

Sidebar: Video tools → Long to shorts generator
Opens: Home page (/ or /projects)

Turn long-form video (podcasts, interviews, webinars, YouTube videos) into multiple short clips using AI.

Secondary panel — “Pick a video”

• New video / Existing video — Upload a new file or choose one already in your library

• Paste a link — Import from YouTube (if enabled on your account)

• Upload file — Upload from your computer

• Add custom instructions (optional) — Guide the AI, e.g. “Find all moments when Michael mentioned Figma”

• Generate short clips — Starts upload and clip generation

Main workspace — “Short clips generator”

• Shows folders of clips grouped by source video

• Use the grid/list toggle in the header to change how folders display

• Click a folder to open individual clips

Captions generator

Sidebar: Video tools → Captions generator
Opens: /captions-generator

Add styled, animated captions to a video. Best when captions are the main goal rather than generating many short clips.

• Secondary panel: Upload or select your source video

• Main workspace: Your captions projects and folders

Screen recorder

Sidebar: Video tools → Screen recorder
Opens: /screen-recorder

Record your screen (and optionally microphone/camera) inside Choppity, then edit or clip the recording.

• Secondary panel: Start and configure a recording

• Main workspace: Folders from your screen recordings

Video editor

Sidebar: Video tools → Video editor
Opens: /video-editor

Start from a blank timeline or open existing blank-editor projects for full manual editing — cuts, captions, b-roll, effects, and more.

• Main workspace: Blank editor projects (folders named Project - …)

Transcript generator

Sidebar: Video tools → Transcript generator (may not appear on all accounts)
Opens: /transcribe

Upload audio or video and get a transcript.

YouTube clipper

Sidebar: Video tools → YouTube clipper (may not appear on all accounts)
Opens: /youtube-clipper

Create clips from a YouTube URL.

Content tools

Plan, schedule, and measure content after you create it.

Ideas board

Sidebar: Content tools → Ideas board
Opens: /ideas

Kanban-style board for post ideas. Draft copy, attach media, move cards through stages, and open the planner or posting flow from an idea.

Calendar

Sidebar: Content tools → Calendar (requires social posting enabled)
Opens: /calendar

View scheduled and published posts across connected social accounts.

Analytics

Sidebar: Content tools → Analytics (requires analytics enabled)
Opens: /analytics

Team-level performance overview. Individual clip and post analytics are available from project and post detail pages.

Manage

Account-level assets and connections.

Social profiles

Sidebar: Manage → Social profiles (requires social posting enabled)
Opens: /social-profiles

Connect and manage YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms for scheduling and posting.

Templates

Sidebar: Manage → Templates
Opens: /templates

Save and reuse caption styles, branding, layouts, and other settings across projects.

Storage

Sidebar: Manage → Storage
Opens: /storage

Browse uploaded videos, images, audio, and other assets in your team library.

Settings, help, and account

At the bottom of the sidebar:

Inside a project folder

When you click a folder from any tool hub, you open that batch of clips or projects.

• Breadcrumb at the top links back to the tool that created the folder (e.g. “Short clips generator”)

• Clips list shows individual videos you can edit, download, schedule, or post

• Processing banner appears while Choppity is still generating clips

Clicking a clip opens the full-screen video editor for that project.

Extra sections (new users)

If you haven’t created any short clips yet, you may also see below the main workspace on the home page:

• Tutorials — Links to help videos

• Community clips — Examples from other creators

These hide once you have projects in the Long to shorts hub.

Mobile layout

On phones and narrow screens:

• Bottom bar: Quick access to Ideas, Clips (home), and More for everything else

• More menu: Social profiles, Analytics, Templates, Storage, Settings, and other tools

• Upload form stacks above your project list instead of sitting in a middle column

Some sidebar items (Transcript generator, Calendar) may appear on the bottom bar when enabled for your account.

Notes

Some menu items are feature-gated. Transcript generator, YouTube clipper, Calendar, Social profiles, and Analytics only appear when enabled for your team. If you don’t see an item listed here, it may not be available on your plan yet.

Classic UI: Some accounts may still see an older layout with tabs on the home page instead of separate tool hubs. This article describes the current dashboard with Video tools, Content tools, and Manage sections in the sidebar.
