Keyboard shortcuts for the editor

Keyboard shortcuts help you edit faster inside Choppity's Content OS. They work in the clip editor and timeline when your cursor is not inside a text field or search box.

Playback controls

Press Space to play or pause preview audio and video. This is the quickest way to review a cut while your hands stay on the keyboard instead of moving back to the mouse every few seconds.

Frame-accurate trimming

Tap Left Arrow or Right Arrow to step one frame backward or forward. Use this when caption timing or a punchline landing needs a single-frame nudge that drag-scrubbing cannot hit cleanly.

Undo and redo

Press Cmd+Z on Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows to undo. Add Shift for redo (Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Shift+Z). Undo covers transcript edits, timeline changes, and styling adjustments across the current editing session.

Delete and dismiss

With a timeline object selected, press Delete or Backspace to remove it from the project. Press Escape to close the top modal or popup without hunting for the close icon in the corner.

Troubleshooting

Click the preview or timeline first if nothing happens. Shortcuts are disabled while you type in caption or search boxes. Chrome delivers the most reliable shortcut behavior during long edit sessions.
