Roles and permissions explained

Roles keep your team Content OS secure while letting creators move fast. Each person gets the access they need for their job, nothing more, which reduces billing surprises and accidental template changes.

Owner permissions

Owners control the workspace end to end. They manage billing and subscriptions, create and revoke API keys, configure webhooks, invite or remove members, and set editing restrictions on brand elements. Assign Owner sparingly to people who should manage money and integrations.

Editor permissions

Editors upload videos, run analysis, edit clips, use Transcribe and YouTube clipper, and contribute to the Ideas board and calendar. They cannot open the billing portal, create API keys, or change team membership unless promoted to Owner.

Viewer role

Choppity supports a Viewer role for read-only project access, but it is not assignable in the invite UI today. Invites offer Owner and Editor only. If you need view-only access for a client stakeholder, contact support for guidance on the best setup.

Best practices

Give day-to-day creators Editor access. Reserve Owner for founders, ops leads, or agency admins who pay invoices. Review members quarterly and revoke API keys when someone offboards.
